When asked why he started to draw
with his own unique style,
he replied, "I've found that it is the most
fulfilling way to
express some of my deepest emotions."
After
Dan finished high school, he was drafted into the
military.
He served his tour of duty in Viet Nam. While in Viet
Nam, he
created artwork for the "Stars and Stripes"
magazine. He also
painted six-foot dragons on Huey Gunship helicopters. Dan
said his love of art helped him through his time in Viet
Nam.
After his tour of duty, Dan moved to Colorado and worked
in
the meat packing industry, all the while Dan was drawing
at every available opportunity, often into the wee hours.
Over the years, Dan's style and sense of direction have
matured and he has added many drawings to his portfolio.
Currently, Dan has chosen to travel
around the country doing
fine art shows, with the help of his friend and business
manager
William Kern. Together, they have attended many art
festivals.
As
you can see from looking at Dan's work, it involves a
great
amount of detail, emotion, and creativity. Original
drawings
can often take up to one hundred hours to complete.
Over the past twenty years, Dan has achieved some of the
highest honors from prestigious shows, for his work on
official posters, and T-shirt designs.
Dan's wonderful limited edition drawings are receiving
the
attention of many collectors and artists alike. Once you
own a
Dan Thompson drawing, you will know why other artists
like
to imitate his unique style and subject matter.
Dan really enjoys it when people ask questions. He says
that
some of his best ideas come from the exchange of
information.
In the future, Dan plans on
attending more fine art shows
around the world and making his artwork more available to
the
public. Dan wants to continue his work and expand his
style
and products to include "something for
everyone."
